Margin Requirements for Non-Centrally Cleared Derivatives Guideline (E-22)

In 2016, OSFI issued the final version of its Margin Requirements for Non-Centrally Cleared Derivatives Guideline (E-22). Under this guideline, most covered federally regulated financial institutions (FRFI) are subject to the mandatory exchange of variation margin (VM) and initial margin (IM).

Our panel of professionals will:

Discuss how these requirements evolved out of the G20 leaders' commitments to reform OTC derivatives markets in response to the 2008 Financial Crisis; Provide an overview of the VM and IM requirements in OSFI Guideline E-22; and Discuss the challenges faced by financial institutions in implementing these rules.

Speakers:
- Candace Pallone – Counsel, McCarthy Tétrault LLP
- Gregory Aronson - Senior Counsel, Derivatives, Legal Department, TD Bank Group
- Patrick Tobin - Capital Specialist, Capital Division, OSFI
